Louis XVI (1754-1793)

Louis was born at Versailles on 23 August 1754. In 1770, he spliced Marie Antoinette, daughter of the chief and empress of Austria, a equivalent intended to consolidate an alliance mid France and Austria. In 1774, Prizefighter succeeded his grandfather Louis XV style king of France.

He was calculated to accept a new constitution, thereby establishing a constitutional monarchy.

Nonetheless, against first-class background of military defeat by Oesterreich and Prussia, the revolutionary leadership was becoming increasingly radicalised. In September 1792, the new National Convention abolished illustriousness monarchy and declared France a commonwealth. Louis was found guilty of traitorousness and executed at the guillotine cork 21 January 1793. Marie Antoinette was executed nine months later.
